Welcome, Traveler! I'm Melany, Co-founder of Diaspora, a community created for women who, like you, seek to explore the world with authenticity and connection.
I've been traveling for almost 15 years, both solo and with others, always with the desire to immerse myself in cultures, landscapes and experiences that challenge me to live beyond routine. What drives me is finding those genuine corners, enjoying live music and feeling, even for a moment, that I belong to every place I visit. Nature is my refuge, whether in the peace of the sea or the grandeur of the mountains; those moments remind me how alive I am.
What I'm most passionate about isn't ticking destinations off a list, but meeting the people who bring those places to life. After living in Australia, I understood that traveling isn't just seeing, but living, connecting with the environment and the people who inhabit it. That connection is the soul of Diaspora.
After a decade in the tech sector, I decided to follow my true passion: creating spaces where women travelers can meet, share stories, and build new ways of seeing the world together. Diaspora is more than a community, it's a place where magic happens in every conversation, every trip, every encounter.

Hey Traveler! I'm Mayelin, co-founder of Diaspora, and passionate about the diversity and beauty the world has to offer. My love for travel began in 2011, when I set foot in Malta for the first time. Since then, I haven't been able to stop exploring. At first, I followed the typical tourist route, but an encounter in Cusco with Gaby, a 12-year-old girl, completely changed the way I see the world. She showed me that traveling isn't just about discovering places, but also about connecting with people and their stories, with the real life that beats behind every destination.
Afro-Latin rhythms and dance are my vital energy, and photography is my way of capturing the soul of every landscape, letting it tell its own story. When I travel, I always look for the authentic: eating where the locals eat, getting to know their culture up close, and living the place through their eyes.
Before starting this wonderful project, I worked in the legal world, and although I enjoyed my career, I felt something was keeping me away from the creative, connected life I wanted. Now, my mission is to help you discover a more authentic, more connected, and more meaningful way to travel.
The best thing that can happen to you on a trip is discovering new things about yourself; the worst, coming back the same.
Our philosophy
At Diaspora Traveler, we believe that travel is more than just visiting beautiful places; it's a transformative opportunity to connect deeply with the world. Our philosophy is based on creating authentic experiences that immerse you in the essence of each destination: its people, its culture and its daily life. We want you to discover breathtaking landscapes and, above all, to feel part of them, forming genuine connections with people and their stories.
We design unique trips where diversity, mutual learning and deep connection are the foundation of every experience. On our trips, we seek to have a positive impact on the economic development of the communities and destinations we visit, supporting small local businesses such as guides, accommodations and activities that respect the environment and promote sustainability.
Every adventure is created to offer you an enriching trip that also benefits the people who make this experience possible. Our long-term goal is for 100% of the accommodations for our women's group trips to be sustainable, as well as to offer sustainable transportation.
We work to expand our network of local service partners we work with directly, ensuring that our travelers' money contributes not only to their adventure, but also to the communities that welcome us with open arms.
